Philippines Invaded by Japan

Philippines Invaded by Japan

1941-42 Japan Invaded Philippines during World War II. Japan's plan was to invade Philippines and include it to thier "Greater East Asia War". There were 3 objectives in the invasion of the Philippines:
  • To prevent the use of the Philippines as an advance base of operations by American forces.
  • To acquire staging areas and supply bases to enhance operations against the Netherlands East Indies.
  • To secure the lines of communication between occupied areas in the south and the Japanese Home Islands.
Empire of Japan led the invasion against the USAFFE and Philippine Forces. General Douglas MacArthur led the U.S. and Philippine forces to fight the Japanese forces. Japanese landed on the north part of the Philippines. The battle went deeper south of Luzon ( North part of the Philippines ).

The result was the Philippines and Allied forces was defeated by the Japanese forces and the beginning of the 3 1/2 years of harsh treatment. examples of the harsh treatment was the Bataan Death March and the Japanese Prison Camps and more...

The lesson I have learned from the event/conflict was that Japan wanted to invade the Philippines to prevent Americans to have a base in Asia and to use the Philippines on their "Greater East Asia War".
